Hotaru
Hotaru heard only snatches of what Glacius was saying, farther along the trail as she was, but she shivered nonetheless. The idea of a land of endless night and ice... Frightening. These ice atron-whatsies were all crazy. She shook her head, shrugged, and went back to playing with her new sword. Accidentaly, her blade sliced a branch.
Hotaru flinched. She hadn't wanted to practice with the sword on the greenery for fear of burning things away. The cut glowed with green acid for amoment before deepening, and then stopping altogether. Hotaru stopped and stared. So the sword didn't melt everything away... But what stopped it? Was it that type of tree?
She poked at a mushroom next to the tree. Again, the cut opened, glowed green, and disappeared.
"Weird..."
Suki
Suki's dark blue eyes glowed. It sounded so... magical. She couldn't even imagine it.
"What do you do there? Are there any animals? Do you need sustenance, or can you live forever with nothing to eat or drink or... absorb the energy of? Is the ice like all regular ice, or dense and colder than usual ice? Does the moon's light refract through clear patches of ice like the sun would? Is there any plant life, like there are pine trees in Skyrim? You said that nothing else could survive without magical aid... Does that mean that others have visited, or that it's simply possible?"

Glacius smiled at her curiosity. "It's our native home... We are born there. We are also reincarnated there when we die. There are no other animals, but there are similar, non sentient beings like us there. And there are trees... Which makes me think it was once like your world, but they are permently frozen from thousands of years of ice and cold." Glacius paused slightly. "We do not require "food", no elemental atronoch does, but my kind thrives in cold and water, and without one or both, we slowly lose power until we... Simply fade away. And our realm's ice is covered and composed of dense, magical frost salts, which compose some of my body, and is made naturally in our realm. In fact... I don't think anything can melt it except the realm of the fire atronochs... And yes... Others have visited. Though I haven't heard of mortals doing it. Usually deadra from another realm or even deadric princes have come to enlist some of us as their followers."

Hotaru and Suki
Suki nodded, eyes clouding as she considered this. "But what do you do? When you're... born, and you're living there, what do you do for fun? How are you born? Do you have another language? Do you have mothers and fathers, or do you just grow and appear and live on your own? Do you have friendships? Do you live in places like houses, or just stay in the cold? Do you ever sleep?"

"We rest to refocus our deadra essence, but sleeping, eating,... Fun in general is a mortal activity for elemental deadra. In fact, I'm still relatively new to that whole field of feeling." Galcius sighed. "One thing you need to know about deadra, at least elemental ones, is that the concept of "male" and "female" is entirely different. We do not...... "Form" new beings like you do..." Glacius looked thoughtful. "That is actually a good question. Ice atronochs are predominately "male". An essence of creative energies lives before each of us is born. A "female" atronoch of our species, if she so decides it, will seek out a powerful "male", and together, their deadric essence combined with this life energy will form a new atronoch soon after." Glacius glanced at Suki with an amused expression. "Trust me, it's not what you think. And this event only happens every thousand years. To top it off, females in my species are rare. Then there is the fact if they would want to. Creating another atronoch with someone who could become a potential rival for her in the future, while at the same time using some of her power, isn't always a positive thing. On the other hand, making another atronoch could be an investment. Until they gain enough power to be free themselves, they serve as her guardians."

Suki
Suki thought about that for a moment. No fun? What in the world did they do? Just sit around thinking about stuff? Plot? Compose poetry? It all sounded quite bland and political.
"So where you live, everything's about... power? And survival? But isn't it relatively impossible for you to die? And how could you die? Do ice atronochs fight? How? And when you're not plotting or fighting or pledging yourself to a patron, you just... sit there?"

"Thats one thing that makes us similar Suki. By immortality, I mean the concept of never getting diseases, age, or hunger and thirst." Glacius rumbled. "All deadra can "die", and the concept terrifies them. In death, a deadra loses a large portion of their power before they are reincarnated. And death in itself is scary. The choking darkness of Sithis, the feeling of constant agony until the song calls us back... Then there is the worst part... We deadra do not have souls like you do. If our deadric essence gets weak enough, we die... For eternity, our life essence being leaked out. We are powerful, spiriritual beings without any kind of mortal body, and our soul can die. This is why most deadra are upsessed with their patrons and their power. If they TRULY die... Everything about them is gone. Their individuality, the thing that makes them, them... Lost forever." Glacius looked troubled before he saw Suki and Hotaru, offering them an uneasy smile. "We don't sit. Some of us do mind you. A lot of times my kin constantly reform parts of our home in unusual structures. I believe the mortal term is "art".

Suki
Suki nodded. "So in their spare time they create artwork with ice? How? What do they look like? What did you used to do? And how does deadra fearing death make us alike?"
Hotaru rolled her eyes, her interest in this land of ice and endless cold at a bare minimum. It wasn't that she was less curious then Suki. She was just a lot less interested in this icy freak's homeland.

Glacius smiled slightly. "We control the water and the ice to shape it however we feel like. Sometimes we make larger structures of ourselves, or for the most part just unusual shapes. As for death... Do you fear it Suki? Or is it something you just don't think about?" A slight pause. Glavius pointed a blocky finger over the horizon... "There's Vivic. Large... isn't it?" Glacius asked reflectively. And it was... 8 Huge square looking structures, easily the size of small town each, connected by stone bridges with over three levels. People flocked in huge numbers on the different , merely ants in the distance. A huge asteroid hung suspended far off in the distance. The sun was starting to set, casting Vivic in a polished bronze gleam...

Suki and Hotaru
Suki nodded thoughtfully. "Well, I kinda' don't think about it... I mean, if death comes, it's going to kill me, and there's little I can do about it, so I might as well just live life. But yeah, if I think about it... Death's kinda'- Oooh! Hotaru, I think we're there!"
Hotaru nodded. "Yep. That's it. Very... rocky. But it's a city. At least that's a start."
Suki sighed. Though her new toy had made Hotaru complacent for a little bit, it was obvious that she still hadn't gotten over her inadverdent freezing.
"It's very pretty. Do you come to the cities often, Glacius?"

"Vivic? Yes I do. I'm not really bothered by traveling, and a lot of my duties require going to places like Vivic. Just... be careful witht he local guard here. Especially the older ones... They have nasty tempers... And they train constantly to hone their skills. The ordinators are the elite soldiers of Tribunal, our rival native religion here." Glacius informed.

Hotaru and Suki
Hotaru muttered something about, "Slice of their arm with Acid Rain and see what they'd like to ordinate then..."
Suki nodded. "We'll be careful." Her brow furrowed as she realized what an untrue promise that was. She and her sister were rarely careful. "Well, we'll stay safe, at least."
She turned to her sister. "What did you say? Acid Rain? How do you know the name of the sword?"
Hotaru glared. "I don't know the name, so I named her myself."
"A sword has no gender, and you can't name a magical sword by yourself."
"Who cares, and yes, I totally can. It hasn't blown up in my face since I started calling it Acid Rain, and I doubt it will in the near future. She likes it."
"Swords don't have genders."
"And still no one cares."

Glacius shrugged. "Actually, most enchanted weapons are named by their mortal counterparts. It takes a soul to enchant one, so one might say the blade is indeed alive."

Hotaru and Suki
Hotaru stuck her tongue out. "So there. Her name is Acid Rain." Grinning hugely, Hotaru ran toward the city. Usually, she could have done a cartwheel or some such thing, but with a sword in her hand... Maybe that wasn't the best idea.
Suki grumbled for a moment, but finally followed after Hotaru, dark hair flying and eyes aglow. After completing a series of semi-complex arial maneuvers, Suki looked back, grinning.
"You coming, Glacius?"

"Yes..." The ice atronoch nodded with a calm smile on his craggy features. "At least for a while."

Suki and Hotaru
Suki rolled her eyes. Were ice atronochs always so... serious? At least Glacius smiled, but he rarely seemed to joke or run or get excited. Suki cartwheeled up to the gates or Vivic, city of dreams and unknown people.
"And on that pleasant note, we arrive." She swept a bow, allowing Glacius to enter first, then running after him.
