It was calm, temperate day in Pelagiad. Citizens walked the grassy streets, Traveling into their homes and the stores, or simply chatting with each other. The imperial guard patrolled calmly through the town to make sure order was maintained, though it was highly doubtful anyhting of interest would show up. This was a fairly tame region. There usually was no problem here. In the distance though, a tall figure emerged. About 6-5 and mucular, the strange imperial? walked towards pelagiad in the distance with a peaceful smile, icy blue eyes narrowed in contentment. He carried a sack on his massive shoulders, which he apparantly carried with ease. Some of the citizens stared... as did some guards... Just who was that? it wasn't often someone really visited Pelagiad. It was an Imperial colony, and a small one at that.

OOC: Ugh. Wanting to join so badly... But I know that if I do, I'll stop working on Hotaru and Kiko's bios entirely. I can do this! I must be strong... -.- This stinks. I wanna' be weak again. But I shall stay strong. xD And I'll probably finish Hotaru and Tsukiko's bios by tomorrow night. That is, if my teachers don't choose to torture me again. I don't like homework.

OOC: *sighs* Thanks. I just finished researching. I've decided that I'm not going to start writing my story, just figure out the plotline tonight. *winces* I stink with plots. I barely ever come up with anything that's truly original... >.< Ah, well. At least it's a writing project. xD I'm sure I won't have problems with the minimum word limit. It'll probably be three or four pages long.

OOC: No problem. I'm talkin' 'bout my schoolwork. *winces* Well, I started it. I have my characters and I'm ready to go.... except I still have no idea what the outcome of the mystery will be or even what the mystery is. And yet I have two pages written. >.< I swear, this thing is turning into a fantasy novel, instead of a mystery short story. *sigh*

Hotaru and Suki
What a day for Pelagaid! As the first shocking visitor had just stepped into the village, two other travelers appeared. Two Imperial twins, about seventeen, maybe eighteen years of age, walked out of the sparse woodland veiling the path to Pelagaid. Each had black hair and almost-black eyes. Each moved with languid grace. Each carried a small pack over their shoulders. And yet they were so utterly different.
The twin clad in red and orange, Hotaru, was complaining loudly to her sister. Her eyes glimmered with impatience and excitement. "Suki, I just don't get it. Why do we have to stop in this hole in the wall before heading to Vivic? The supplies we have won't last long and this detour's just plain stupid."
Her companion sighed and explained, again. "We're stopping here to buy more supplies, learn what the heck to do in Vivic, and to enjoy a small village before heading back to the city."
"Okay, I say that we just skip steps A, B, and C and just skip to step D; head to Vivic and get ridiculously rich! I mean, really, how many people here are gonna' have any money to pay entertainers with? We need to go where the people are stupid and rich, and there's no place like the city for that kind of stuff!"
"We are stopping in Pelagaid, and that is final." Suki's voice was usually patient, but today she was growing short-tempered. Hotaru could get under her skin the way other people simply couldn't. Why did her sister have to be so rude and impatient? She didn't not love Hotaru, but sometimes she just wanted to strangle her.

The guard looked over his shoulder at the two twins as they entered from the opposite sides. Under the steel helm, the imperial's eyes were thoughtful. Glacius tilted his head. "Is there a problem?" The guard shook his head as he smiled and said, "No problem... Just what brings you to Pelagiad?" The priest that wasn't quite human smiled, holding out his brown sack. "I came here to deliver these letters and scrolls for the Imperial Cult they were setting up here. News from their sister cult near Balmora at Fort Frostmouth." The guard nodded. "Very well. Go on through. And please, rest your feet at the Halfway Tavern before you go on the road brother?..." The huge, imposing priest smiled, icy, blank eyes warm. "Brother Glacius." The guard nodded a little nervously. What a strange name for a priest.... And did he have nord blood?... Or orc blood in his veins?... Never seen an imperial get that tall... "Well anyway, enjoy your stay in Pelagiad my friend." The guard went back to his patrol, and the priest walked not too quietly down the road in the middle of the town. Glacius whistled a tune as he went in the direction of the fort. It was easy to see, it was near the back of Pelagiad. Unfortunately, the ice atronoch in disguise didn't see the two entertainers he accidently knocked to the ground as he bumped into them.

Suki and Hotaru
Suki had seen the atronoch and at the last moment dove to the side, falling into a graceful forward-roll and landing on her feet. Hotaru, carelessly walking along and alternating between grumbling and staring at the tiny houses and strange people. Did they all have to stare so? Were visitors just that uncommon? Hotaru sighed. They wouldn't make any money here to make up for all the stuff they'd spent...
Her thoughts were shaken from their path as a giant smashed into her, knocking her into the ground. Naturally, perfect Suki had rolled gracefully away, but Hotaru had been caught off guard. She sprawled in the dust, almost slamming her head hard against the ground. She glared up at the stranger.
Suki's eyes widened as she realized what Hotaru was about to do. She jumped over to her sister and pulled her off the ground, ignoring the dust and calling on the moisture in the air to keep her fingers from burning while touching Hotaru's flame-hot skin.
"No," she said firmly, "Oh, no. You are not setting this man, and this village alight. I will personally kill you."
Hotaru wasn't looking at her. She was glaring at the idiot who'd been too stupid to look in front of him and almost squashed her. "Hey, you! What's your okking problem?"
Suki sighed. "Look, sir. My sister isn't right in the head... very disturbed. Really, I sometimes wonder if I should let her out in public..."
Hotaru glared. "Oh, I'm perfectly right in the head. I'm right enough to kick your aft for practically trampling me." Yellow and gold flickers began to glimmer across her hands and Suki wanted to scream. This was not going to happen! No way!
"What is your problem, Hothead? I know you're mad, but what the heck is this?"
Hotaru didn't feel like explaining, telling her sister that some kind of irrational fear and hatred had overcome her and that she just wanted this stranger to be gone, gone from this place.
OOC: Reasons for Hotaru's overreaction: She's super frustrated today, she's already a hotheaded fool, and Glacius's general affinity with ice, the very opposite of her element, has addled her. xD Good luck with this.

The town went very quiet... Citizens hurried into their houses or the nearest store... To top off the already tense setting, there was a loose circle of guards around the two mages, and they didn't look very happy. Each of their hands were resting on their weapon, whether it be a spear, shortblade, or longblade. "Before you do something irrational, like incinerating this Nine Divine Priest here, I will warn you, that assault and attempted murder results in heavy jail time or the death penalty. Slave bracers would be bonded to your wrists so you won't cast magic anymore.... I garuntee you posters of your arrest will be hung in every major town and city in Morrowind, so you better start making some good choices right here..." The guard that spoke, Glacius realized, was the one that welcomed him into town... they moved incredibly quickly, surrounding the two twins and himself... They must have been expecting or at least suspicious of the two girls. "Peace..." Glacius murmered to Hotaru. "Your right, I wasn't looking where I was going. All I ask is your forgiveness and have the heart to excuse my blatant clumsiness." The ice atronoch was nervous... She had an aura... An uncomfortable one.... It reminded him of fire... And the sparks dancing from her fingers didn't help either.... Could she sense what she was? Deadra had an ability to sense otherwordly beings, and both girls were, for some reason, giving off a very similar aura... Glacius' glassy blue eyes looked in his pack. He could spare one... Did mortals accept peace offerings? There were innocent villagers here, and although the frost atronoch could unleash his full powers if he wanted to, that should probably be avoided at all costs... The huge hand dug into the pack, and Glacius pulled out a small sweetroll. "A gift... And an apology."

Hotaru and Suki
Suki groaned. The authorities... The okking authorities. Her sister was going to be arrested... Argh! This day was so not going according to plan! What was Hotaru's problem today? Normally, she was hot-tempered, but this was beyond the norm.
Hotaru's head was spinning. Nothing was making sense. Snatches of conversation, whirling colors and painfully sharp images flashed through her mind. Nothing connected. It all was a blur. What the heck was this? Suki's voice, whispering frantic instructions, a feeling of cool water of Hotaru's palms...
Finally, everything snapped into focus. What was happening? Hotaru scanned the scene quickly. Oh. This wasn't good. Her palms were heating up, she could even see the beginnings of flames there. Suki had an odd mixture of terror and murderous intent on her face and was telling Hotaru that if she didn't calm herself down that Suki'd personally... Whoah. Was that even physically possible?
Some incredibly creepy stranger was pushing some kind of dessert at her. Why? She didn't know. Still, free food was free food. She reached out to grab it and Suki slapped her hand away. Hotaru glared and barked, "What? He was offering."
"What are you talking about? There are obviously bigger problems here!"
Hotaru winced when she realized how right her sister was. The little freak-show seemed to be surrounded by a group of very agitated guards and two very threatening mages. Hotaru wondered how long these small-town charmers would last against her firepower before pulling herself back into focus. That wasn't the point right then.
Having absolutely no idea what she was apologizing for, Hoatur mumbled, "Sorry..."
Suki stared for a moment before smacking herself in the forehead. "Now she gets it..."

The guards didn't move an inch. Their faces were deadly, immensely concentrated. From the fort that overlooked the town, archers clad in chainmail had their bows drawn. Glacius held up a hand. "There is no problem here... Please return to your patrols. I don't think they were going to hurt me. They are merely agitated. Give them a break, I hold no grudge for the unfortunate accident." The guard captain glanced at Glacius, face deadly serious. "Are you sure about your judgement? I don't want innocent civilians killed." The ice atronoch turned around clamly to face the captain. "I'm positive. We all get mad sometimes." The voice of the atronoch was calming, as if he really knew this was simply a misunderstanding. The guard captain sighed, and raised a hand. The guards that incircled the group broke off and resumed their patrols. The archers in the distance put their bows down, uncertainty on their face, but none the less went back to their business. The guard captain then faced Hotaru, slight snarl on the man's face. "Listen GIRL, This town and everyone who lives here are my responsibility damnit! One wrong move and you will be in shackles! Your on thin ice... Remember that..." The captain then turned and walked in the opposite direction. "Interesting analogy..." Glacius thought. The huge ice atronoch then sighed. "You really know how to make a scene don't you?... Ah well... Name's Glacius, priest of Akatosh. I hope there is no hard feelings." He said, extending a huge, open hand to shake.

Hotaru and Suki
Suki sighed. They... That was the issue with having a twin. You were each classified with each other. Hotaru had been the only one to show aggression, yet did they note that? No. Hotaru and Suki looked alike, thus they had to act alike. Ugh.
Hotaru was confused. Now this guy, whom she'd been about to blow up - literally - was trying to get her off the hook? What the heck? Just thinking about him made her stomach turn. What was wrong with her? He was being nice, really nice, even letting her off the hook. Why did she feel like she should hate him? The beginnings of a massive headache began to pound in Hotaru's head, but she instantly lost her focus on it at the guard's words.
Hotaru stared him down, black-gold eyes burning. She wanted to attack him... wanted to show him that she wasn't afraid of him or any of his pathetic little friends. She wanted to show him what a joke he was. She probably would have, she was so addled, but Suki was at her side, poking her and whispering, "Don't do this. Don't do this. You will not ruin our reputation two days into Morrowind. I won't let you. Just let it go."
Hotaru just stared, murmering, "I always have been..." to no one in particular before turning abruptly to face the too-kind and very frightening stranger.
Geez. He was even taller when she got a chance to really look at him. And two times as menacing. Hotaru resisted the urge to throw flames at him and run and gingerly extended her hand, wincing as they shook. Ow. He felt cold. Freezing. As soon as her hand was out of his, Hotaru pushed as much heat into it as she could. Like usual, she showed no signs of heating up, like normal people would. Her hand didn't redden. She didn't feel burning. Just a warm, safe hum in her palm.
Hotaru opened her mouth to speak, but Suki cut her off, smiling and speaking in a low, relaxing voice. "No hard feelings at all. In fact, we owe you one for not having the guards put Hothead in shackles. Sorry about her behavior. She's been jumpy all day."
Suki held out her hand to shake, still smiling. "I'm Suki Kinju and this is Hotaru Kinju. We're twins, traveling entertainers. We both dance and do acrobatics, Hotaru is a fair hand at almost any instrument she can get her hands on, and I sing. It's nice to meet you, Glacius."

The ice atronoch smiled. "Likewise." The huge man's voice was deep and echoey... Almost... otherworldly?... It was hard to say. When Glacius shook Hotaru's hand, he flinched slightly, but he still kept a peaceful, friendly grin. Her hand... Hurt... It felt uncomfortable to the touch. As for Suki, Glacius was much more at ease with the water wizard. She flet a lot more comforting... Glacius even felt a strange sort of kinship? That was odd. Glacius smiled. "Ah... Entertainers. And twins none the less. Very ambitious in your goals eh?" The ice atronoch grew serious. "Morrowind is as full of treasures as it is danger. You might want some advice on how this country works... I assume you are from Cyrodil?" The ice atronoch asked, but then realized they had just thanked him about the guards. He waved a massive hand dissmissively. "Think nothing of the guards. I'm just happy noone got hurt."
