Balderion was surprised when Vintus drew his sword. The high elf couldn't feel anything wrong but as soon as the light of the sword illuminated the hallway, he saw why. The monstrosity bounded forward and a fire ball launched from Balderion's palm nailing the..dunmer-type thing in the chest.

Vintus smiled inside his steel helm when an explosion filled the cavernous hallway where the strange being was... But it quickly turned into a frown... He could see a vague shape, still slowly sprinting through the gale of flames... Covered in soot, making the skin even darker, and steam wafting off the shoulders, the crazed predunmer gave a battle cry as it launched a fist when it got close enough. It didn't even have a scratch... The imperial paladin brought up his enchanted claymore to block it. A vicious clang echoed in the still air. Vintus flew back. His steel clad legs barely found purchase on the rocky ground, boots flailing, trying to prevent himself from tripping and regain his footing... Did that PUNCH knock him back?! "Balderion! Get distance between you and it!" Vintus yelled in shock and fear... Oh gods... He could feel an evil prescense BEHIND them as well... And coming fast...

Balderion's face turned smug as the thing erupted in flames, but it turned surprised and confused as he emerged unharmed. There was no way that, his spell would be completely useless. Balderion cursed loudly as the monster came barrelling forward. He sidestepped and the thing's fist hit the wall actually cracking the rock. Balderion took the opening and lunged his sword in it's stomach, but amazingly, it barely cut him instead of impaling him.

The ash zombie snarled ferally, grabbing Balederion's longsword by the blade, pulling the altmer closer, and with the other hand, made a fist, and rammed it hard in the high elf's stomach.
Vintus cursed as he heard moaning sounds coming down the hall, shadowy, deformed figures were trudging down the filthy stone corridors fairly quickly...

A breathless gasp escaped the high elf's lips a fist was thrust into his abdomen. Balderion's eyes were wide with astonishment of the sheer power of the blow and also with pain. Suddenly, they flashed to anger and he recovered spinning around and slamming his shield into the side of the monster's face. If it was his destiny to die in here for the emperor then so be it, but he was not going down without a fight. A beam of subzero ice shot forth from the hand that held Balderions's sword and he immediately readied his shield, prepared for any sort of counter.

The ash zombie snarled, gray hand quickly withdrawing from the blade as it leaped back several yards. The monstrosity glanced down at the hand as it frosted over in a shiny white ice, tendrils of mist coming from the perma-frosted hand. Then, it looked(hard to say, since a small cavern existed where it's eyes were supposed to be) and unleashed a feral roar that echoed over the groaning of the corpus beasts and Vintus' battle cries. Balderion was lucky to have that shield ready, as it was pummeling it rather violently with it's stone-like hands, even leaving slight dents in the steel buckler. The poor altmer had to have excellent footing just to stay off the ground... Once that happened... It would be quickly over.
Vintus brought his enchanted claymore in an arc as he severed yet another blighted monster... There were quite a few of them charging down the corrider... Some of the bloated ones like Balderion fought and some of them almost looked dunmerish... If they didn't have wide, glazed eyes, sharp teeth, and deathly pale skin with strange, yellowish fluid leaking from their pores. Regardless, they were almost as monstrous as the Lame Corprus, And the imperial paladin used the Flame of Akatosh to ensure this side of the rock corridor wasn't overwhelmed... Because once that happened, the two warriors didn't stand a chance. Vintus grimaced though as he felt another deformed claw reach out and slash at him. As best as he tried to counterattack from the horde of diseased beasts, he occasionally lost a little ground and had to back up from their onslaught. Vintus had grim thoughts... He didn't have the proper maneuvering for his claymore in this tight, rocky hallway. He had killed three so far, but there was at least 8 more... They were going to die here... Vintus was sure of it... Then Akatosh take me... Vintus thought silently. His blue eyes widened though as he saw a silver bolt bury itself in the skull of one of the beasts in front of him, the monster toppling with an agonized shriek. Was there someone else here?...
