Suki and Hotaru
Hotaru was silent, though she nodded to indicate she understood. So Morrowind was in the middle of some kind of struggle... And the Imperials were what caused it... She couldn't dislike her people for coming to Morrowind. They would not have known that their arrival would cause such a disturbance, and it seemed like most thought they were doing the right thing. She couldn't totally dislike the dunmer for their hatred, but she could dislike the hatred itself. Sure, it was their home, but couldn't they share? Maybe if they stopped trying to destroy the entirity of the Imperial influence on Morrowind, and instead tried to show the good things about their own culture, a kind of compromise could be reached.
Suki shivered when she saw the anger on Varis's face. Those eyes... She'd never get used to those red eyes.

Varis seemed thoughtful for a moment longer, then gave a slightly apologetic glance at the two twins. "Sorry about that... Shall we move on?" As the trio walked on, Varis finally asked, "What is Cyrodil like?" The question had a sort of polite curiosity to it.

Suki and Hotaru
Hotaru was a little taken aback. How did someone describe Cyrodil? It was... her normal. She'd lived there her entire life. What was it like?
"Don't be sorry," she said, voice quiet and thoughtful, "Cyrodil's... Well, it's kinda' like Morrowind, but with a bunch of things tweaked. Like, mushrooms are tiny in Cyrodil and there are more trees... And there are different foods, like turkey and beef. The people are kind of different, too."
Suki nodded. "There aren't as many adventurer-types as there are here. A lot of people back home were more interested in starting a family and living uneventful happy lives. Morrowind is full of people who are interested in exploring it or finding, I don't know... treasure? Something of the sort."

Varis smiled an actual grin. "PLENTY of treasure here.... Is that what your looking for?" The dunmer asked as they continued walking, facing the sisters.

Suki and Hotaru
Hotaru smirked. "I don' think we're looking for treasure. How 'bout you, Suki?"
Suki smiled. "I'm game if any shows up, but for now, I'm pretty happy with just hanging around and performing. And exploring."
Hotaru nodded. "Lots of exploring. We're just here for something new. We are explorers in a new land!" She grinned. "But we're practical explorers, and ones who loves to dance, so a while spent working in Vivic shouldn't do us too badly."

Varis smiled slightly. "I would love to see that one day... Your act that is... Maybe I will. If the people at the arena hire you, they probably would want to see an example of your performance..." Varis trailed off, red eyes widening... Though his face had a thoughtful frown... Ahead of him, a huge crowd of people of different races were in front of them, in a sort of circle. Almost all of them were chatting to each other or themselves, some of them with their hands over their mouths. Some looked frightened, some horrified, some shocked, some excited, some interested... They were pressed too close together though for Varis to see anything... When a patrol of ordinators turned the corner though, all armed with ebony maces and clad in their indoril armor and mask helms, pace purposeful and stride quick towards the crowd of people, Varis instantly knew something was up... And if it was what he thought it was...

Suki and Hotaru
Hotaru smiled. "I'd love for you to see us. Wait, what's wrong?" She stared curiously at the crowd, trying to figure if this were a market of a gathering place. Yet these people didn't seem happy or like they were going about their daily business. They looked shocked, frightened, and sadistically interested. A fight, perhaps?
Suki eyes widened. "This isn't normal, is it?" she whispered nervously. She didn't want to see those ordinators use those maces... Someone could get seriously hurt.

The ordinators gave a rather curt bark to clear out before they smashed the crowd's heads. The people complied immediately, scattering in all directions in great haste away from the religious zealots. Obviously the ordinators were always true to their word.... When the crowd cleared, Varis could see what he had been dreading... On the ground was an elderly breton woman, draped in brown, priest robes... She looked like she was viciously assaulted... Several stab wounds were on her body, and her throat looked like it was slit in the most painful fashion. Obviously who ever killed her enjoyed it immensely.. Or it was done in a very crude way, as blood was everywhere, and the poor, fragile face still held a terrified expression. Varis narrowed his red eyes. "Wait here..." He advised as he walked towards the ordinators calmly. At first, they were aggressive to Varis, telling him to back off, but after he said a few words, they seemed to recognize him, and started conversing in quiet whispers, helm and red eyes flashing towards the body occasionally.

Suki and Hotaru
Suki's hands went to her mouth, and she blinked away tears. The poor old woman... Who could do this? She looked so broken... And the blood was everywhere. Suki sent a small prayer to the god of the dead, and hoped silently that they'd cut her throat before injuring her in such terrible, painful ways.
Hotaru was momentarily speechless. "Oh," was all she managed to get out before gagging. She managed to keep her breakfast in, but only barely. It was one thing to see an injured soldier on a battlefield, or someone killed in an allyway because he wasn't smart enough to hand over the money when asked, but this... This woman hadn't asked for this at all.
OOC: Mind if I bring in Jacki in my next post? She can have been stationed in Vivic, and be pretty angry about the priest's death.

(Yeah, go ahead. ;D Though it IS a rather serious post, this could start things off for the hunt for the killer.)
Varis seemed to be grim, but after talking with his brethren for a bit,a look of surprise was on his face. A moment of silence, then Varis nodded, and as the ordinators returned to their posts, while others made preparations to move the body, the young dunmer returned to the two imperial twins. Once he was in ear shot, he walked past them. "Follow me." Varis stated calmly.

Hotaru and Suki
Hotaru and Suki immediately fell in step with him, both girls staring at his face. Suki looked wary, and Hotaru looked shocked. Neither had any idea why they were obeying Varis's command, but neither could get over their surprise to stop and protest. Finally, Suki spoke up.
"Where are we going? And what happened back there?"

For a while, Varis was quiet, but eventually the ordinator turned to Suki and Hotaru. "Well... You didn't have to come along... But I need to go back to my quarters in St.Delyn and get into my indoril armor... And then go to the Temple District and question a survivor of the attack... For a few weeks now... A string of murders have been coming up recently... Three of my brethren died before they could even draw their weapons. Three, now four outlanders were killed the same way. We first thought it was an anti imperial or foreigner group, and might still be..." Varis paused in his statements as they crossed a stone bridge... "The survivor matched your friend's description... The priest I saw when we first met last night.... The killer was obviously surprised at your friend. I haven't heard of your priests using powerful destructive magics involving ice, but I'm more shocked at this recent dilemma than that. because now, the mysterious killer has been identified... A middle aged dunmer woman wearing a netch leather cuirass and skirt, and carries an enchanted dagger. Your friend managed to fend her off long enough that we now have a description... He's alive... A little shaken... But he's at the Temple District. I thought you may have wanted to see him... And maybe get a little more information."

Suki and Hotaru
Suki's eyes widened. "Glacius fought the killer off? And he's alright, you said?" She sighed with relief.
Hotaru was sorely tempted to sigh and complain about seeing, 'that freaky ice dude' or 'my sister's new obsession' but she refraied. This wasn't a joking matter.
"Thank you for telling us, and for bringing us along." Hotaru sighed heavily. "So this isn't some one-time thing? This is a serial killer?"

"Yes..." Am answer to both questions Varis thought reasonably. "As I said before, unless this woman is working with others, she is the murderer... Or... She isn't, and is just another killer... and... Ugh...." The young dunmer didn't want to think about such possibilities... Eventually, the trio reached a wooden door in the St.Delyn District. Printed on it were the numbers 232. Varis reached into his pocket and produced a silver key. Putting it into the latch, Varis turned it, and then opened the door. The room... His apartment room... Was small, yet had a high ceiling. The floor was tiled with brown clay stones, polished to a sheen, with the tan rock walls and ceiling. There was a decent sized bed with red sheets at the far corner, and on the other, a desk, dresser/wardrobe, and a small shrine to the Tribunal. A large map of Morrowind was on the wall behind the desk, and an orange and crimson carpet laced with gold stood in the center of the room. Everything looked orderly and neat, with a few unlit candle torches attatched to the walls for dark nights or stormy days.

Suki and Hotaru
Hotaru followed Varis in, but Suki hovered by the door. This room was so neat and calm... It looked happy, but untouched. She felt like an intruder walking in there. In Varis's room, everything had its place, and Suki felt there was no spot for her.
Finally, she stepped into the room, shaking her head and closing the door behind her.
