Varis shrugged... Though he looked a little perplexed at the request, if not wary. Why did that imperial blush?... "Not at all... If you want, I will meet you here around 10:00 in the morning." Varis stated calmly. "It would be nice to spend a day off with some pleasant company."

Suki and Hotaru
Suki nodded, before Hotaru could devise a way to be even more obvious. Although he wasn't exactly pushing her or suki away... But he might have just been being friendly. In which case Hotaru seriously had to back off.
Suki replied, "Great. Ten o'clock it is," and dragged her sister away by the arm. Hotaru waved over her shoulder pointing at her sister and twirling her finger to indicate madness and grinning before being pulled around a corner.

Varis just shook his head in wonder, returning to his post...
The next day, fairly early at about 10:00, Varis narrowed his red eyes at the rising sun. He wasn't wearing his ordinator armor... Rather, he was dressed in a nice dark blue shirt with decorated baggy black pants. His lean, lithe muscles showed slightly through the thin cloth of the shirt, a result of serious militaristic training as he folded his arms patiently, waiting for the two twins. In the mean time, he listened to the sounds of the running water coming from the ocean and the canals that drained the rain water, face relaxed.

Suki and Hotaru
Hotaru grinned as she turned the corner to see Varis waiting by the gate. Her long dark hair was pulled back into a thin braid that reached her lower back and swung easily. She was dressed in her usual city girl clothes: a well-fitted brick red shirt with a thin line of yellow embroidery shaped like flames on the sleeves and neckline, dark brown breeches, and flexible leather boots that easily shed the muck of city streets. Her sister was dressed similarly, but her shirt was more of a loose half-dress with waves of white embroidery and everything that was red on Hotaru was blue on Suki, while everything brown on Hotaru was black on Suki.
These were their nicer clothes, reserved for times when they wanted to impress, which they certainly did today. Searching for jobs wouldn't be an easy task and first impressions meant a lot in the city.
"Hiya, Varis," Hotaru said.
"Hey," Suki yawned. Though she was usually the disciplined one, she'd had a horrible night's sleep, adjusting to the sounds and smells of city life. Hotaru, as usual, slept like a rock and was feeling quite chipper that morning.

Varis nodded in their direction with a small smile. "Good morning. I hope finding a room wasn't too hard for you two." The dunmer said softly as he glanced at the morning sun with a very content smile. It was the nicest time of day in Vivic, why spoil it with loud voices? Vivic was beautiful... it wasn't like other cities. The tiled streets were polished and clean by the multitudes of cleaning crews that were assigned to each part of the city cantons and mopped at least once every three days. Sometimes more if ash storms were bad. The dark elf smiled once again at the sisters. "Have you had breakfast yet?" Asked Varis, "I have, but if need be, we can get something on the way to whatever you wanna try hiring at first."

Hotaru and Suki
Suki waved for Hotaru to answer, yawning again. Hotaru happily oblidged.
"We rented a room at an inn near here, because we don't want to choose our permanent residence before getting a job. And yeah, we each had a roll from a stand on the way here." Hotaru pulled a loose strand of hair from her face, gazing full-on at the sun. The heat waching over her was soothing and filled her with a calm energy. She loved sunny days like this one. It felt like nothing could go wrong.
"So do we shop and see the city first, or search for employment?" Suki asked, finally finished yawning.

Varis shrugged. "Well... If you want to ensure you can get a job here, I would start there... But we still have all day." The dunmer offered. "If you want to see more of the city first, we can." Varis then glanced at the sun again.

Hotaru and Suki
Hotaru, pulling her eyes from the white-hot beauty of the sun, grinned. "Let's do both. Is there a way for you to show us some parts of the city on our way to the performing areas?"
Suki yawned, tugging her boot to a more natural fit and waiting for a reply.

"Of course. Most of the city is INSIDE the cantons, though the streets are nice though too." Varis replied as he began leading the two sisters through the city. It was during this time of day that people began to fill the walkways and bridges. As they went to the arena canton, they passed a khajiit slumped up against the wall. The cat humanoid looked familiar, and Varis gave the Moraq Tong Assassin a wide berth. He had dark gray fur, and seemed to be clad in a dyed black netch cuirass, with chitin grieves encasing his legs, and chitin pauldrons adorning his shoulders. The khajiit had a small lute and a clay bowel at his bare, furry feet, and played a haunting, soothing tune, using his claws as natural pics.

Suki and Hotaru
Unlike Varis, Suki wandered a little closer to the khajiit, intrigued by his song. As she neared him, she fished into her purse for a small coin and placed it in the bowl. Performers needed to stick together, and his music was truly beautiful. On her way back toward where Hotaru and Varis were speaking, Suki twirled and danced, her shirt flowing and her feet moving in time to the music, even as it grew more faint behind her.
Hotaru smiled at Suki as she made her way back to them, turning to reply to Varis. "You're right... This city is a lot cleaner than most in Cyrodil. Is there just less waste, or does the city have a cleaning crew of sorts?"

Varis grinned, showing off a set of neat, white teeth. "We take great pride in our city. Vivic has an advanced canal system that helps clean most of the trash as well as control water levels. We are on the ocean, in fact, if you went to the canal works, you would be under the surface." The dunmer leaned back as he crossed his muscular arms, looking thoughtful. "We do in fact have a cleaning crew assigned to each part of the city. Being as big as Vivic is, it's necessary. Especially when the ash storms get bad..." The young dunmer said this with a rather dark look.

Suki and Hotaru
Hotaru tried to process all that. So somehow the canals cleaned the city, along with cleaning crews...
"But what is an ask storm?"
OOC: My muse... It died... * o * Sorry for suckeh post.

Varis looked very dismal and serious when the topic was brought up... "Every so often, about once every three weeks, Red Mountain will send a wave of ash from it's dephes... All natives of Morrowind immediately seek shelter during these times... In the ash, there is a dangerous disease called the "blight", sent by the devil Dagoth Ur. Being in the ash storm for a small amount of time isn't that dangerous, but sleeping outside when one sneaks up on you or finding yourself in a place without shelter is dangerous... The blight itself is a mind altering disease that has painful, physical side affects... Sometimes beasts such as kwama and nix hounds catch it, turning them more vicious and deadly monsters. Blight has a cure.... But it so different from other "common diseases" that it requires it's own special potions and healing spells in order to cure.... Worst case scenario.... People who have blight long enough sometimes caused the disease to mutate into Corprus.... Which is basically a death sentence... Vivic bless their wretched soul..."

Suki and Hotaru
"Dagoth Ur? But... What's the point? Why would he send an illness that destroys? Don't devils try to... win things over to their side? Wouldn't this blight be breeding hatred for him and making gathering minions or whatever harder?" Hotaru's brow furrowed with thought.

Varis looked thoughtful for the longest time, red eyes staring off into space. "My kin are a proud, stubborn race... We have suffered many terrible events at the hands of outsiders, and are skeptical of other races as a whole... We don't appreciate imperial occupation, the idea of outsiders coming into our home, dominating us, altering our culture, changing our dunmer identity to suit their power hungry needs... All we have set for ourselves that we worked so hard for... To have that cheapened... Angers my brethren sometimes." Varis glanced at the sisters with a ghost of a smile. "I tend to look at both sides of the issues, as being one sided seems rather unfair... However.... Not all feel the same way..." Varis then looked angry... And seeing that on the dunmer's face showed a rather merciless side to him... The eyes gleamed like fire, and the expression of anger seemed a little too natural on the young dunmer's face. "Dagoth Ur is a mad, power hungry monster, determined to collapse life as we know it. He resides in Red Mountain, where the honorable Tribunal managed to push him back at, and build a wall to contain him. He uses his silver tongue to manipulate once good dunmer, with promises of power and strength. His goals are to collapse the Tribunal, drive the outlanders away, and form a wicked perversion of the old Great Houses. We shall not let him... Through the faith of our gods, he will eventually fall."
