Name- Hotaru Kinju
Race- Imperial
Age- 17 years old
Class- Entertainer, more specifically, a dancer/mage
Faction- Former Mages’ Guild, considering both the Twin Lamps and Thieves’ Guild, but unable to convince her sister of either
Appearance- Hotaru has the fair skin of all Imperials, though it’s tanned to a dusty brown from extensive time spent outside. She is slim and attractive, though slightly less curvy than is preferred. She’s aware of this, and dresses and acts in accordance. When not performing, she wears loose sturdy tan breeches and a form-fitting shirt or varying colors, ranging from light creamy beiges to vibrant oranges and reds.
Hotaru has the look of someone always on the verge of doing something exciting and dangerous. She had a quick grin and a scattering of freckles span the bridge of her nose. Her eyes are deep, almost black, but in the light, their orangey-brown highlights are brought out.
Her hair is long and dark brown, often pulled back into a pony tail that runs down to her lower back. It is smooth and shines faintly reddish-gold in full sunlight.
Hotaru has the lithe, strong body of a dancer. Her muscles are wiry and stronger than an average girl, though they still couldn’t compare to many adult men’s. Hotaru commits herself to practice fully, simply because it is fun to her, so she is in good shape, but her stamina can only go so far. She’s strong, but not invincible.
Her movements are smooth and swift, but seem to be erratic and violent. She’s prone to violent temper outbursts and when these episodes take her by surprise, jets of flame shoot from her hands. She isn’t affected by heat or cold; her body seems to be able to regulate its own temperature.
Personality- Hotaru is much like the fire she adores. She is prone to temper tantrums of a sort and prefers to settle things at a physical level, attacking anyone who she has a problem with. She likes to confront things head-on and isn’t afraid to attack opponents much larger than she is.
Hotaru is a thrill-seeker and wants more out of her life than just a traditional story. She wants excitement and adventure. She loves to dance with a passion and loves the attention it gets her even more. She’s dated plenty of boys, but can’t seem to find one person that truly fits into her lifestyle. She is no stranger to passion and emotion, so these relationships are intense. Even being Hotaru’s friend is a bit of an emotional roller-coaster ride.
When Hotaru is in control of her temper, she is much like many girls her age. She flirts, talks, practices dancing, and jokes around with her twin sister.
Hotaru has an affinity for fire and is fascinated with it, sometimes saying that she can ‘speak’ to the flames. She does agree that fire doesn’t think or speak, but insists that it has emotions and roundabout-style thoughts. She likes to have flames near her at all times and will often play with a little candle-flame that she can make appear in her hand, moving it from the palm of her hand to the tips of her fingers and her forehead at random.
Unfortunately, Hotaru isn’t always in control of her temper. Like her twin sister, she’s a very passionate and often empathic person. Unlike her sister, though, she doesn’t think before acting on impulsive feelings. She has a hot temper and is perfectly willing to settle an issue through fighting. When particularly irritated, flames shoot from her palms and she’s come close to setting quite a few buildings on fire.
She’s a born rebel, never really wanting to conform or fit in. She’s got energy, though, that draws others to her and often makes them wish to be more like her.
History- Hotaru and Tsukiko are twinsand each of them, since birth, have felt a kinship with an element. Hotaru felt most comfortable with fire, Tsukiko with water. At a very young age, they both would sort of... not converse with their element, but care about it. Hotaru hated it when people put candles out in her presence, liked to have a fire near her no matter what the weather, and reacted very little to heat and cool.
Her sister loved to put her hands in water, loved to swim, loved the rain, and feared fire greatly.
While they got older, their parents sent them to the Mages' Guild to be taught. Both girls were exceptionally weak with any type of magic that didn't have to do with their element. Eventually, they grew tired of trying to strengthen themselves in what their conformist teachers told them was the 'right' way. They broke off and... joined a travelling circus. They learned to dance and began to incorporate their element into their dancing and acrobatics.
Soon, though, Hotaru and Tsukiko felt an urging need to go off and to find their own way. They left the circus and began traveling as lone companions, performing in markets for money and food. They saved up their money for boat trip to Morrowind, a land of undiscovered treasures, in their eyes. They still perform in the marketplaces, but are slowly drifting further and further from the beaten path.
Hotaru is interested in joining both the Twin Lamps and the Thieves’ Guild, but Tsukiko has so far been able to dissuade her sister’s more dangerous interests.
Equipment- 1 steel dagger, of basic make in good condition, 1 all-purpose knife for eating and fighting, form-fitting leather guards for her forearms and throat
Spells- Has focused on fire elemental spells, but has a few others…
1) She and Tsukiko are very good with the Mark and Recall spells. They will occasionally use them in a particularly hairy fight, transporting each other out of danger.
2) Both are very proficient with the Telekinesis spells.
3) Both are weak in the Colleges of Destruction, Alteration, and Conjuration, fair in the Colleges of Mysticism and Restoration, and proficient in the College of Illusion.
