Nalia blinked a few times, then a few more... He was gone... And the septims were there... Grinning her pointed teeth and hungrily running a tongue over the front of them, the female Argonian crouched down like a jungle cat and furled and unfurled her tail in excitement. And her tail just happened to hit a windchime. She instantly flatened her tail to the ground and stayed perfectly still in a crouched position. "Maybe people'll think I'm a roof ornament. Just... Stay... Still..." She dared not breathe in case the lute player came back.

The silt strider caretaker just stared at the argonian on the wall about three yards from him. He cleared his throat to get her attention. "I'm looking right at you. I can see you looking at those septims." The man informed as he started to smoke an exported cigarette. "I'd leave them... Unless you want a death wish... That khajiit isn't a begger... And the guards won't be able to save you from his wrath." He spoke this very calmly, as if this was a daily occurrence.
An agonized scream soon answered the question... In the distance, the young dunmer that Rasheer seemed so interested in, was clutching a blade that potruded from his chest in vain. The guards rushed to the scene, just as the civilian fell... Revealing Rasheer, a mere shadow in the distance. They surrounded the stone faced khajiit, weapons drawn, the dunmer's agape mouth leaving a pool of blood at Rasheer's furry feet. He calmly dug into his pouch, and drew out a slip of paper, handing it to one of the Hlaluu Guards. The bonemold clad warrior grabbed the slip, seemingly studying it intently... And eventually pocketed it. "Your free to go." he stated. Rasheer nodded, and started walking back in the direction of the silt strider.

Nalia froze as she heard the scream. Was that the Khajit!? She nodded numbly and promptly fell back on her tail. "What was that?" She thought. The silt striker caretaker seemed to know what was going on... She wanted to as well. Picking up her pack that fell off, she shouldered it and leapt from the wall, and ran in the direction that the scream came from. The female Argonian was curious, and nothing could stop her when she was curious.

The khajiit assassin seemed to have dissapeared... But eventually the female argonian almost crashed into the Hlaluu guard that took the slip of paper from Rasheer. "WHOA ARGONIAN! WATCH WHERE YOUR GOING!" The dunmer muttered grumpily. The other Hlaluu guards went back to patrolling... But the dead dunmer still sat near the bridge... And several citizens were covering the mouthes, staring like the vulturous spectators they were. "GET OUT OF HERE! NOTHING TO SEE HERE!" The guard yelled, waving his arm, and the citizens dispersed.

Nalia skidded to a halt before she crashed into the guard. Her adrenalin spiked when she saw he was Dunmer. Then she saw the body lying in a pool of his own blood. He was also Dunmer. Nalia's aggression slowly boiled down as a strange satisfaction replaced it. Sick and twisted, yes, but she was never one to care much. The female Argonian backed away from the guard a bit to get a better look at the body. "That ain't noth'n." She muttered. And it was the Khajit, she knew it. "Why aren't you chasing the murderer?" She asked. A bold question, but dead bodies did that to a person. "Look, the kill is recent, I heard the scream only a few minutes ago, surely you had to have seen the guy." Nalia's tail swished with nervous excitement. "I want to get to he bottom of this." She thought. Then it hit her. The Silt Strider! The caretaker knew what was happening. If she had committed a murder and she needed an escape route, she'd use a Silt Strider. Turning around, she ran back to where the entrance of the city where the giant insect mount stood. This was exciting- murders were exciting, and Nalia loved excitement.

The Hlaluu guard was about to inform the argonian what was happening... To prevent panic, he had a right to tell her that the khajiit was a Moraq Tong assassin, But she already left, seemingly in the direction of the silt strider... Too bad. The guard grinned inside his bonemold helm. He didn't care much for lizards, especially arrogant, bad tempered ones. If she made herself an enemy of those assasins, he may let them have her with a smile.
Rasheer stood silently in front of the dunmer man as he smoked his pipe calmly, grey wafts evaporating in the air after each puff. Eventually, the red eyes met Rasheer's, and the man stated, "I suppose you want to go to Vivic so you can report to your superiors?" Rasheer gave the slightest dip of his head. The dunmer nodded thoughtfully, still puffing on his pipe. "Think she wants to talk to you first?" Rasheer turned around in slight confusion, only to see the female argonian racing towards them.

Nalia huffed as she ran fast to catch up with the Khajit. She grinned when she spotted him at the Silt Strider. Quickly, she scrambled up a wall and ran along it before jumping on another one then onto the stairs that the Khajit stood on top of. When she finally made it to the top, she was panting and she bent over to try and stop the burning in her lungs. "Wh-Whooo... Who are you?" She finally choked out. "You were the one that-... That killed that Dunmer... Right?" Her breath finally came back to her and she took one last sigh before standing up straight. "So, uh, how'd you get out of arrest? Shouldn't you have, you know, hopped on the Stirder the moment you saw someone coming after you? Pretty confident." She'd never spoken so many words to a stranger before, but as stated before, this was exciting, and Nalia loved excitement.

The elderly dunmer started chuckling, while at the same time hacking and choking on the tobacco smoke. Rasheer just stared at the female argonian... She was the one that dropped the septim in the bowel... The Moraq Tong Assassin turned around to the silt strider, completely ignoring Nalia. "That would be 23 septims if Rasheer remembers correctly..." Rasheer stated in a raspy voice as he dug in his pocket and handed the septims over to the Caretaker.

Nalia narrowed her eyes and growled softly, which sounded a bit like a cross between hissing and and clicking. Whenever someone ignored her it irked her to no end. Her tail tip started to twitch. "I was talking to you. And I want answers. Like why did you kill that guy, or who do work for, or how did you get out of arrest?" Questions poured out like she was overcompensating for all the conversation she didn't start with him when she though he was just a simple beggar.

Rasheer turned slightly to face her direction. "Rasheer offers advice to argonian, since argonian seemed nice. Rasheer's business is his own affair... Ask the dunmer guards if argonian is interested that much." The khajiit rasped, before climbing into the carapace of the silt strider, black scarf billowing from his neck like a flag. The dunmer man turned to face Nalia, thoroughly amused. "We leave for Vivic in a minute, wanna come?'

Ask a Dunmer for answers? She found that a bit hard to swallow. Then the caretaker asked her if she wanted to come with them to Vivic. "Vivic, Vivic..." What did she know about Vivic? It was big huge, watery, and she wasn't wanted by the law there. Sounded like her kind of town. Balmora was geting boring anyway, and she hated boring. "How much for the ride?" Admittingly, she'd never traveled by Silt Strider before. Perhaps it was the overwhelming urge she had when she first saw one to hit one of its legs with a branch like a baseball bat, or maybe it was the vacant and dumb look in their buggie eyes. Or perhaps it was the fact that it was a giant crustacean bigger than a house and could most likely squish her without even knowing it. Whatever the reason, she'd never rode one... Although now that she actually thought about it, the prospect of not worrying about beasties like Cliff Racers or Slaughterfish while traveling was a very handsome prospect indeed.

"Normally twenty three, but I'll give you a break. 18 septims for first timers." The dunmer stated with a smile. Rasheer was leaning abck in the carapace seat, looking at the argonian woman out of the corner of his sharp, green eyes, arms folded behind his head, stars glittering overhead in the night sky.

Nalia took off her backpack and started digging around in it. She took out ten then rummaged around for more on the bottom, having to take out random junk and items, before she finally found eight more. "Aha. Found you ya blighters." She handed the money to the Dunmer and put her items (muck, leaves, and roots mostly) back in her pack. She looked at the Silt Strider. It was so... Still... Like, she couldn't even she it breathing. It didn't even look like a living thing from where she was standing. And why was its carapace naturally shaped like a saddle? All in all, Naia thought Silt Striders were just the slightest bit creepy, but then again, it was a convenient ride, so the female Argonian took a spot on the saddle, making sure her pack was on well. She didn't plan on losing any personal belongings.

The dunmer took the septims, and waited a while, before he finally stated gruffly, "Eh. Two minutes, two hours, no difference this time of night." The dunmer grinned tenderly as he rubbed the side of the siltstrider. "Allrighty Bess... lets get moving. The dunmer hopped into the front of the capartment with amazing grace for his age. The dunmer turned around to face the two passengers, who were staring at him. "Okay then... For those who don't know me, my name is Fathos Oran. I drive the silt strider from 12-11 on Sundays through Mondays." The dunmer held up a finger. "Before we go, all new passengers need to know this creature. A silt strider is a large, solitary, herbivorous insect... Crustacean... Thing... they feed mainly on plant juices, and are brought here from the mainland." The dunmer grinned. "We carve out part of the shell to make room for passengers, and we control this gentle beast by manipulating exposed tissues and organs... Now, these babies can go up to 50 miles per hour, so I want you to hold, and you know... Keep all limbs in the vehicle so you don't lose any..."

If it were possible for a reptile to pale, Nalia was certain she did. Exposed tissues and organs? That was how they controlled the beasties? Who in the right mind actually came up with that idea!? Right now there was way in hell she wasn't hanging on. Although it was a pretty nice view with the height and all; but in her books, Silt Striders seemed just a bit more creepy. the female Argonian dared look down. She'd never been so high with such a sheer drop. "Yep, definitely no problems with holding on here." She squeaked.
